Charles Babineaux

Cecilia- Funeral Services will begin at 4:00 pm, on Sunday, March 3, 2013, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Cecilia, for Charles Joseph Babineaux, 76, who passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Lafayette General Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday. A Masonic Service will begin at 4 pm, followed by services by the Veterans of Foreign Wars, with the V.F.W. Chaplain officiating. Mr. Babineaux, a former resident of Springfield, Ohio, from 1974 - 2001, was a veteran of the Vietnam War, having honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. He was a Life Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, having held numerous local, district, and State offices, in both Ohio and Louisiana, including All-State and All-American honors in the State of Ohio. Charles was a Life Member of COOTIES (an honorary degree of the V.F.W.), Pup-Tent No. 18, a member of the American Legion, and Life Member AMVETS. Charles was also a deputy with the St. Martin Parish Sheriff's Office. He was an avid golfer, who dearly loved playing every week, no matter where he lived. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, having renewed their wedding vows in December, 2012, Joanne Roush Babineaux of Breaux Bridge, LA; two sons, Steve (Leslie) Babineaux of Dublin, OH, and Rick (Deb) Babineaux of Knob Noster, MO; two daughters, Cindy (Billy) Stokes, and Shari (Andy) Knapp, all of Springfield, OH; two brothers, Roy (Velma) Babineaux of Cankton, LA, and Ovey (Mabel) Babineaux, Jr. of Lafayette, LA; a brother-in-law, Gene Roush of Springfield, OH; a sister-in-law, Martha McDorman of Gahanna, OH; 11 grandchildren, Evan, Arielle, Adam, Chris, Heather, Cody, Jessica, Brandi, Scott, Brandon, and C.J.; 3 great grandchildren, Karsen, Aiden, and Ethan; and numerous nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father, Ovey Babineaux, Sr.; his mother, Amenthe Carrier Babineaux; his brother, Clayton Babineaux; his sister, Pearl Hidalgo; and his step sister, Rose Sewell Babineaux.
