Chase Matthew Day

New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Saturday, January 2, 2016, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia, for Chase Matthew Day, 12, who passed away on Friday, December 25, 2015, in Baton Rouge. Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. Rev. Andy Starks, pastor of the Cornerstone Cowboy Church, will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia. Visitation will continue on Saturday from 8:00 AM until 1:00 PM. Chase was born on December 22, 2003 and was a sixth grade straight A honor student at Daspit Road Elementary. A member of the band, he was a 1st Chair Trumpet player, and was also a member of the Jr. Beta Club, and the Year Book Club. Chase wrote the winning essay last year for the Cajun Groundhog Day Essay Contest, which was featured in the Daily Iberian. Chase was a kind and loving person. Through Chase's organ donations, five other children will have the gift of life. Survivors include his parents, Keith and Jody Bourque Day of New Iberia; brothers, Brandon Day, his twin, of New Iberia, Christopher Gary of Mandeville, Nicholas Day of New Iberia; sisters, Heather Gary of New Iberia, Brittany Gary of Mandeville, Katelyn Gary of New Iberia, Shelly Fiero, Christy Rozas; grandfather, Shelby Day and wife, Tela of New Iberia; grandmother, Rosie Day of Shreveport; nieces, Ashlyn, Ava; nephew, Alex; and uncles, Shawn Day, and Derrick Day; cousin, Alicia Day.
