Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Saturday, October 4, 2008, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Chester "Gee" Babineaux, Sr., 76, who passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at his residence.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. James Fallon will officiate at the funeral Mass.
Mr. Babineaux enjoyed gardening, watching old western movies and sharing jokes. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Survivors include his wife, Earline Joseph Babineaux, of Breaux Bridge; three sons, Chester Babineaux, Jr. and his wife, Brenda, of Breaux Bridge, Johnny Dugas and his wife, Mary, and Harold Dugas, all of Houston, TX; seven daughters, Carolyn Celestine, Delores Babineaux, Eula Joseph (Lonnie), all of Breaux Bridge, Gloria Davis and her husband, Preston, of Cecilia, Brenda Skanes, Serena B. Patterson, and her companion, Jordan, and Diana Carson and her companion, Fil, all of Oklahoma City, OK; five sisters, Velma William, Mary Ann William, Elsie Broussard, Judy Celestine, all of Houston, TX, and Helen Pickney, of St. Martinville; 22 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Rodney, Sr. and Bertha Pete Babineaux; maternal grandparents, Manuel and Elzena Galentine Pete; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Alphozine Alexander Babineaux; a son, Clinton Babineaux, Sr.; son-in-law, Carnell Skanes, Sr.; four brothers, Simon, Clifton, Clifford and Rodney Babineaux, Jr.; one sister, Serena Babineaux; and a granddaughter, Becky Simon.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 6:30 a.m. on Saturday and continue until 10 a.m.
A rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. on Saturday.
Pallbearers will be Daniel Babineaux, Brian Joseph, Jimmy Babineaux, James Skanes, Clarence Babineaux, and John Babineaux.
Honorary pallbearers will be Marshall Babineaux, Jacory Simon, Raymond Celestine, Kareem Joseph, Clinton Babineaux, Jr. and Melvin Celestine.
