Chester Arthur Broussard

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., on Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Chester Arthur Broussard, 93, who passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2007 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Rev. Fr. Louis Allen Breaux, associate pastor of St. Bernard Church, will conduct the funeral service. Mr. Broussard was the General Sales Manager at Domingue Motors in Breaux Bridge, having retired in 1975 after 44 years of dedicated service. He served on the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Breaux Bridge from 1977 - 1995, and served as the Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Commission from 1986 - 1995. Since retiring, he was an avid fan of thoroughbred horse racing and cattle ranching. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Yvonne Dugas Broussard; two sons, John Broussard and his wife, Jean, and Robert Broussard and his wife, Rachael, all of Breaux Bridge; four grandchildren, Jan Delahoussaye and her husband, Jeff, of Broussard, Jill Broussard, of St. Martinville, Ben Broussard and his wife, Jaime, of Breaux Bridge, and Bobby Broussard, of California; eight great grandchildren, Kristen, Britney, Lauren, Hannah, Kaitlyn, Dustin, Ryan, and Brett; and one great-great grandchild, Aidan Hays. He was preceded in death by his parents, Luke and Doris Patin Broussard; two brothers, Louis and Rufus Broussard; a son, Chester Arthur Broussard, Jr.; and a granddaughter, Judy Lynn Broussard. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:30 p.m. until 9:30 p.m. on Monday and continue at 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Pallbearers will be John Broussard, Ben Broussard, Bobby Broussard, Jeff Delahoussaye, Harold Green, and Craig Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Dustin Hebert, Robert Keller, Johnny "Boysie" Martin, Albin Patin, Johnny Raymond, and James "Nookie" Bernard. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
