Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at St. Bernard Catholic Church for Chris "Pop" George Bourg, 72, who passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 3:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Rev. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Pat Comeaux and Kenneth Boudreaux. Gift Bearers will be Brendon and Jake Delahoussaye and Faith Bourg.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Chris, better known as "Pop", was born in New Iberia to the late Ludwill Edgar Joseph, Sr. and Amerite Sedotal Bourg. Chris proudly served in the U.S. Navy. He was a Charter Member of Acadiana American Legion Post 241, Life Member of American Veterans Association Post 2007, Life Member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 2, and a Charter Member of Sons of the American Legion Squad 241, in honor of his father's military service. He worked in the garden center at Walmart for several years. Pop loved to hunt, fish, and cook, and he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Pop will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Jeanie Ann Esteve Bourg; sons, Edgar Bourg and wife Darline, and Louis Duval, III and wife Daisy; daughters, Angela Duval Sattler and husband Mike, and Gwendolyn Duval Jones and husband Eric; grandchildren, Brendon and Jake Delahoussaye, and Faith Bourg; great grandchildren, Lance and Jeffery Delahoussaye; brothers, Rudy Bourg, Sr. and wife Silvana, and Leo Bourg and wife Lena; and his sister-in-law, Diana Bourg.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Chris Duval; brother, Ludwill "Sonny" Bourg; and his granddaughter, Kristen Bourg.
Pallbearers will be Louis Duval III, Brendon Delahoussaye, Jake Delahoussaye, Mike Sattler, Eric Jones, and Louis Esteve.
Honorary pallbearers will be Edgar Bourg, Rudy Bourg Sr., and Leo Bourg.
