Jeanerette – Memorial services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 17, 2024 at First Global Methodist Church, 19 Jefferson St., New Iberia, LA 70560, for Chris Allen Johnson, 60, who passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024, at his Jeanerette home.
Visitation will be at the church from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm.
Chris was born in Franklin, Louisiana on August 12, 1963, to the late Joe Whitt Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Gravois Johnson. He led a remarkable life filled with love, dedication, and cherished memories.
Chris worked for Baldwin Ready-Mix, where he made positive impact on those around him. His commitment to his work was unwavering, and he approached every day with enthusiasm and professionalism.
Chris had a passion for sports that brought great joy to his life. An avid LSU and Saints fan, he eagerly followed their victories and celebrated their successes, especially with his good friend, Mike Rogers. Whether watching the games with friends or discussing the latest plays with loved ones, Chris's enthusiasm for sports created lasting bonds and cherished memories.
After spending many years living in Texas, Chris made the heartfelt decision to return to his Louisiana roots two years ago so that he could be closer to his family. This choice exemplified the deep love he held for his relatives and highlighted the importance of familial connections in his life.
One of Chris's greatest joys was partaking in outdoor activities, especially fishing. His eyes would sparkle with excitement as he talked about his new Gravois boat named "Mary Keet," affectionately named after his mother. It was on this boat that he intended to spend countless hours angling on serene waters while creating enduring memories.
Above all else, Chris held an abundance of love for his family. A special place in his heart was reserved for his aunt, uncle, and cousins who held a unique bond that only time and shared experiences can create. Their presence brought immense happiness into Chris's life, reminding him of the importance of love, laughter, and togetherness.
Chris is survived by aunt and uncle, Elodie “Dee” and Mike Smith; aunt, Patricia Murphy Gravois; cousins, Cynthia Jordan, Kay Voorhies Martin, Amy Voorhies Lambert, Suzanne Smith Rogers, Jeff Smith, Ricky Gravois, Jimmy Gravois, Geanna Gravois, Kathy Savoie, and Marilyn Tinka; and a special daughter and grandson, Jessica Crook and Eli Jones.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Chris’ passing leaves a void that will be deeply felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in peace.
