Breaux Bridge A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Thursday, December 22, 2016, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Clara Belle Guidry Theriot, 86, who passed away on Sunday, December 18, 2016. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 4:30 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until 10 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Fr. Garrett McIntyre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge. Clara, affectionately known as Tiny, to her family and friends, had her very first job as a clerk in the Frank Pellerin General Merchandise store, was later employed at Farmers-Merchants Bank, and retired from her over 30-year career in banking as a bookkeeping supervisor, from Breaux Bridge Bank Trust Company (now MidSouth National Bank). She was a lifelong parishioner of St. Bernard Roman Catholic Church, an adorer in the Chapel of Perpetual Adoration, since its inception in 1984, a Eucharistic Minister who also selflessly ministered to the homebound for 7 years, a member of the Rosary Group for 30 years, and a member of the St. Bernard Grief Committee. Upon her retirement, Clara volunteered her time at church every Monday as an offertory assistant - counting collections from the weekend Masses. Clara was a devout Catholic whose faith in God and devotion to the Blessed Mother never ceased throughout her life, especially throughout her illness. She was a proud and loving mother of four good children and their beautiful families, and a dear friend to many, who will be sadly missed by everyone who knew and loved her. She is survived by her daughter, Brenda Theriot Thibodeaux and husband Floyd of Thibodaux; her sons J.L. Theriot, Jr. and wife Stephanie of Breaux Bridge, Paul Theriot and wife Jenny of St. Martinville, and Joel Theriot of Breaux Bridge; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; and 4 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her wonderful husband of 58 years, Joseph Lester Theriot, Sr.; and her loving parents, Lauret and Elisia Roberts Guidry. Claras family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and gratitude to her devoted friends in the Rosary Group and the St. Bernard Ladies Altar Society, the doctors and nurses of Hospice of Acadiana, and to her caretakers, for their constant care and concern during her time of need.
