Arnaudville - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 10, 2005, at St. Catherine Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Clarence ""Kalu"" Broussard, Jr., 48, who passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, December 8, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette after a brief illness of cancer.
Interment will follow in St. Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Fr. Keenan Brown will officiate at the services.
Mr. Broussard was very active in playing ""street basketball"". ?He also played football and basketball at Cecilia High School and also participated in the intramural basketball program at U.S.L.
Survivors include his wife, of twenty years, the former Catherine Young of LeBeau; one daughter, Alicia Broussard of Lafayette; his mother, Clara Borel Broussard of Arnaudville; four brothers, Robert ""Bob"" Broussard and his wife, Stella of Breaux Bridge, Faris ""Keno"" Broussard and his wife, Debbie, Patrick Broussard and his wife, Wanda, and Harry Lee Broussard, all of Lafayette; seven sisters, Barbara Broussard Benjamin and her husband, Michael of St. Martinville, Delores Broussard, Mary L. Broussard, Linda Broussard, Glenda Broussard, Evelyn Broussard, all of Lafayette, and Melissa Broussard of Arnaudville; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews; relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Broussard, Sr.; two brothers, Russell ""Yo-Yo"" Broussard and Michael ""Mike"" Broussard; his maternal grandparents, Arvillien and Ester Arceneaux Borel; and his paternal grandparents, Kramer and Mary Cluse Broussard.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed at Pellerin Funeral Home in Cecilia from 8:00 a.m. on Saturday and continue until time of service.
A rosary will be recited Saturday morning.
Pallbearers will be Thimpson Broussard, Chad Menard, Faris A. Broussard, Chancellor Journet, Nelson Parker, and Nicholas Borel.
Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick and Harry L. Broussard and Walter Clarkston, Jr.
The family would like to express their gratitude to the oncology unit at Our Lady of Lourdes and Southern Care Hospice for the attention and care given to Clarence during his brief illness.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
