Catahoula - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, December 29, 2018, at St. Rita Catholic Church in Catahoula for Clarence J. Girouard, Sr., 93, who passed away on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, as well as a Memorial Mass for his daughter, Jenny, who passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2018.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at Dion Church Hall from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Friday and continue on Saturday at 7:00 am until 10:45 am.
A rosary will be prayed at on 7 pm on Friday.
Rev. William Blanda will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery in Catahoula.
Mr. Clarence honorably served his country during WWII in the United States Army and was awarded The Purple Heart. He was a member of the American Legion and the VFW. Clarence enjoyed dancing, playing cards, going to the casino and horse races. He loved spending time with his family, and especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his sons, Rickey Girouard and Clarence "Quank" Girouard, Jr., both of Catahoula; daughter, Dianne Goulas and husband Eddie of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Ross Goulas and spouse Martha, Lindsay Marks and spouse Jake, Abby Goulas, Leo Girouard, Daniel Girouard, David Girouard, Damon Theriot and spouse Amy, and Jamison Girouard; and 8 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie Lasseigne Girouard; son, Errol Girouard; daughter, Jenny Girouard; parents, Albert and Margaret Bourque Girouard; and his brother, Paul Junius Girouard.
Pallbearers will be Eddie Goulas, Ross Goulas, Damon Theriot, Percy "PL" Granger, Daniel Girouard, and Toby Granger.
Honorary pallbearer will be Jake Marks.
