Cecilia- Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 10, 2012, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Claude Joseph Trahan, Jr., 90, who passed away on Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at St. Agnes Healthcare and Rehab Center in Breaux Bridge.
Fr. Donald Pousson will officiate at the funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Bridgette Roberts and Sonya Briscoe. Gift bearers will be Claudia Roberts, Sophie Roberts, Ahja Trahan, Hannah Trahan, Anna LeBlanc, Bethany LeBlanc, and Rylie Briscoe. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery.
Mr. Trahan served in the United States Army as a Technician Fourth Grade with the 293rd Military Police Company and was honorably discharged on September 20, 1945, and was a member of the American Legion Post 294.
He loved spending time with his family and friends and particularly enjoyed barbecuing and cooking for them as well.
Survivors include two sons, Lynn Trahan and his wife, Patricia, and Melvin Trahan and his fiance, Denna Bly, all of Lafayette; one daughter, Rebecca T. LeBlanc and her husband, Andy, of Cecilia; two brothers, Mitchell Trahan of Cecilia, and Alcus Trahan and his wife, Melissa, of Church Point; two sisters, Bernice Guidry of Breaux Bridge, and Evelyn Badeaux of Opelousas; 6 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Wilma Calais Trahan; his parents, Claude and Leontine Berard Trahan, Sr.; and two brothers, Lynn and Lester Trahan
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 12 noon until 9 p.m. on Thursday and continue on Friday at 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
A rosary will be recited by Mr. Alcus Trahan at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Andy LeBlanc, Jr., Timothy Trahan, Bob Trahan, Riley Trahan, Andre' Trahan, and Ivy Jarreau.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ricky Badeaux, Ty Trahan, Mike Trahan, and his godchild, Kearney Trahan.
