St. Martinville - Claudia Bienvenu Brosius, age 97, died peacefully at her residence on August 14, 2018.
She is survived by her daughters, Peggy Patout of Baton Rouge and Nancy Brosius of St. Martinville, and her son, Bill Brosius of Lafayette; son-in-law Chuck Patout; and grandchildren Nancy Patout, Sarah Teague (Matt), and Jane Patout of Baton Rouge, and Charles Patout III (Leslie) of Houston. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren: Emily, Caroline, and Thomas Teague; Will, Charles, Henry, and Margaret Patout; and Madeline Ross.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Brosius; her parents, Lazaire and Leoncia Bienvenu; and eleven siblings.
Claudia was an excellent baker and made the best pies around. She was an accomplished seamstress, able to sew everything from furniture slipcovers to wedding dresses. She enjoyed time spent visiting with friends and family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Claudia retired in 1980 from the United States General Services Administration, where she served as an executive assistant. She went on to serve as office manager for Charles deGravelles, where she spent over twenty happy years and formed many lasting friendships.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17 at a 1:00 PM Mass of Christian Burial at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville, preceded by visitation at Pellerin Funeral Home at 11:30 AM. Interment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery in St. Martinville.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Peter Hebert; her sitters, Phyllis Cagnola, Twanna Clement, Joyce Cormier, Kalin Cormier, Lynn Guidry, and Evelyn Patterson; and her medical team, Dr. Doga, Seth Woodruff and Expadie Laparouse, who took such good care of her during her final months.
Honorary pallbearers are Charles Chataignier, Clay Chataignier, Ricky Chataignier, Huey Dugas, Peter Hebert, and Glenn Poteet.
