Cleo Viator Trappey

March 12, 1925 — August 2, 2009

New Iberia-A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 5, 2009 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in New Iberia for Cleopatra V. Trappey, 84, who passed peacefully from this life on Sunday, August 2, 2009, at home with her family. Rev. Gary Schexnayder will be the Celebrant of the Mass, with entombment following at the Holy Family Mausoleum. Cleo Trappey devoted her life to the love and care of her family. She will forever be cherished for the encouragement and support of her children, the joy she brought to the role of grandmother, and the example she set for an enduring family life within the Catholic faith. Her dedication to the quality of life of her husband of 61 years, William J. Trappey, was an extraordinary gift to her family. She was a native New Iberian who was blessed with many lifelong friendships. Her ready smile and genuine affection for dear friends and extended family members will be remembered by all. She is survived by her five children and their spouses, Linda T. Dautreuil and husband C. Chris Dautreuil of Covington, Suzanne T. Mestayer and husband Michael J. Mestayer of Metairie, William J. Bill Trappey Jr and wife Credette D. Trappey of New Iberia, David J. Trappey and wife Claire P. Trappey of Kingwood, Tx, Michelle L. Broussard and husband Brian Broussard of The Woodlands, Tx, and her nine grandchildren Collins Christopher Dautreuil, III, William J. Joey Trappey III, Melise S. Mestayer, Nicholas C. Trappey, Kathryn C. Trappey, Michael J. Mestayer, Jr., Lauren E. Trappey, Benjamin B. Broussard, and Olivia M. Broussard; her brothers, Mark A. Viator of New Iberia and Cassius Viator and wife Della of Houston. She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Trappey; her parents, Evrard and Lucille Dugas Viator; her brothers, Julius Viator and J. Brutus Viator. Pallbearers will be William J. Bill Trappey, Jr., David J. Trappey, C. Chris Dautreuil, Michael Mestayer, Brian Broussard, Collins Christopher Dautreuil, III, William J. Joey Trappey, III, Nicholas C. Trappey, Michael J. Mestayer, Jr., and Benjamin B. Broussard. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark A. Viator and John B. Viator. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM Tuesday.
