Clet Louis Lasseigne

August 14, 1931 — September 18, 2020

St. Martinville - A Graveside Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 3, 2020, at St. Michael Mausoleum in St. Martinville for Clet Louis Lasseigne, 89, who passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020, at Iberia Medical Center. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate at the Graveside Service. Clet was a sugarcane farmer in St. Martinville for most of his life. He told the best Boudreaux & Thibodeaux jokes, and he had a love for life with lots of memories made on his houseboat in the Atchafalaya Basin, the Bayou Camp, and the Hunting Camp. He loved to host Good Friday celebrations, where he enjoyed cooking plenty of food, with live Cajun bands, to entertain his friends and family. Clet helped many families during his life and will be missed by all who loved him. He is survived by his daughter, Doreen (Allen) Durand of St. Martinville; son, John (Jeaninne) Dugas Sr. of Parks; daughters-in-law, Lorena Dugas of St. Martinville and Yvonne Dugas of St. Martinville; nine grandchildren, Dominque Durand, Simone Durand, Shannon Dugas, Lisa Dugas Dupuis, Nicole Dugas Comeaux, John Dugas, Jr., Craig Dugas, Christopher Dugas, and David Dugas; and six great grandchildren, Brooklyn Dugas-Madoff, Ethan Dupuis, Hudson Comeaux, Andee Comeaux, Keegan Dugas, and Jax Dugas. He was preceded in death by his father, Anaclet Joseph Lasseigne; mother, Anne B. Lasseigne; wife of 58 years, Mary Lou Degeyter Lasseigne; three sisters, Sister Mary Anacletus, R.S.M., Lorraine L. Alvarez and Elsie L. Hebert and two sons, Michael Keith Dugas and Philip James Dugas. A special thanks to Dr. Mata and his nurse, Karen, for providing Clet with such good and trusted care, and to all the doctors, nurses in ER and ICU units. In addition to his caregivers, Gale Champagne, Tina Laviolette, Roland “Black” Daigle, Terry Walker, Vanessa Rodriguez, Donnie "Bee" Laviolette, Bryan and Suzie Lucie, Virgie Tate, Tilly Duplechein, Rodger Connolly, Howard Champagne, Jason Doucet, Elaine and Charles Dore, Irving Patin, Angie Molbert, Jo Ann Majkowski, and many others that were there in his time of need, especially nurse, Macie, who held his hand to the very end. Pellerin Funeral Home (337-332-2111) is in charge of arrangements.
