BreauxBridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Clifford Silas 'Pop' Beard, Jr., 64, who passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2011 at Lafayette General Medical Center. Fr. Paul LaFleur will officiate at the funeral service. Mr. Beard worked as a cook in the oil and gas industry for many years. He enjoyed cooking and listening to music. 'Pop' was known to keep up with current local and national news events and watched the news daily with great enthusiasm. Survivors include his son, Lawrence Lamson; his brother, Roland Huval; a brother-in-law, Carl Schmolke; three grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Clifford Silas Beard, Sr. and Tessie Hebert Beard; and his sister, Geraldine Schmolke. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 4 p.m. until 10 p.m. on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 8 a.m. until 10 a.m. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
