Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11 :00 a.m., on Thursday, August 19, 2010, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, for Clifton J. Barras, 83, who passed away on Sunday, August 15, 2010 in Orange, Texas.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge .
Rev. Paul LaFleur, pastor of St. Bernard Church will officiate at the service.
Mr. Barras was a veteran having served in the US Army. His hobby was his work. He thoroughly enjoyed working on his farm, tending to the land, cattle and horses. Mr. Barras also worked for the sugarmill 'wearing many hats' throughout his career. He was known for having a caring heart and loved spending time with his family and friends.
Survivors include his daughters, Barbara Landry of Mauriceville and Judy LeBlanc (Jimmy) of Bridge City; his sister Thelma Dugas of New Iberia; his grandchildren, David Landry, Tesa Jinks, Lisa Lapeyrolrie, Gary LeBlanc and Paul LeBlanc all of Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Thelma Thibodeaux Barras; his parents; Aristille and Regina Huval Barras; and a sister, Lizie Dore.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from time 3:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday and continue at 8:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. on Thursday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Barras, Terry Frederick, Jerry Frederick, Al Dore, Jake P. Romero and Ronald Albert, Jr.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
