St. Martinville, Louisiana - A Christian service will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, in the funeral home for Clifton "MeMe" John Mouton, by Pastor Gabe Smith of Our Savior's Church of Broussard.
Following the service, a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 PM, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Clifton John Mouton, 72, who passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023, at Beehive Homes of Youngsville.
A visitation will take place at the funeral home in St. Martinville, on Monday, from 4:00 PM, until 8:00 PM, and will continue on Tuesday, from 8:00 AM until 10:45 AM.
A rosary will be prayed at 6:00 PM on Monday.
Rev. Jason Vidrine will officiate at the funeral mass. Readers will be Taylor Milliner and Meghen Halphen. Gift bearers will be Harper Mouton and Chloe Bienvenu.
Entombment will follow at St. Michael Mausoleum.
Clifton John Mouton, also known as "MeMe" to his close friends and family passed away on May 10, 2023, at the age of 72. He was surrounded by his loved ones during his last moments. Clifton was born on February 8, 1951, to Edward and Eve Mouton in Parks, Louisiana.
Clifton never failed to serve his fellowmen. He was a compassionate and committed man who rendered numerous efforts for serving his country. Clifton served in the US Air Force, held memberships in the Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and American Legion which shows how great of a patriot he was.
Apart from being a loving person towards all his near and dear ones, he proudly served his community as a barber and handyman. Clifton had several hobbies that he enjoyed during his lifetime including carpentry, gardening, fishing, reading, watching TV, dancing, entertaining family and friends, and helping others in need.
Clifton John Mouton had an intrinsic understanding of the intricacies of life and achieved his proudest accomplishment - his family. The fond memories and the moments of laughter he shared with his family are precious which they can look back on wistfully.
In conclusion, Clifton John Mouton was a zealous man who spent his life serving others selflessly along with being an excellent husband to Paulette while being a great Dad to Skylar, Kim and Marica. His memories will live on through family members both young & old whom he embraced in this lifetime.
He is survived by his son, Skylar (Abbie) Mouton; daughters, Kim (Rob) Coussan and Marica (Robert) Milliner; 7 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; brothers, Clifford "Bago" Mouton, Raymond (Scarlet) Mouton, Milton (Nellie) Mouton, and William "Yuam" (Marie) Dugas; sisters, Jenny Abshire and Margie Daigle; step-sisters, Melissa (Brad) Carpenter and Theresa (Jody) Gautreaux; and a step-brother, Harold John Mouton.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Edward Mouton and Eve Belaire; wife, Paulette Louviere Mouton; son, Kenton Matthew Mouton; brothers, Darrel" Popeye" (Shelia) Belaire, Wilfred "Poochie" Mouton, and Edward Mouton, Jr.; grandchild, Daniel Louis Milliner; sisters, Lorena (Lindsey) Landry and Mildred Pontiff; step-father, Wilfred Belaire; and his step-mother, Maria Sanchez Belaire.
Pallbearers will be Robert Coussan, Skylar Mouton, Cort Bienvenu, Carter Milliner, Cody Mouton, Matthew Halphen, and Donald Poirier, Jr.
Honorary pallbearers will be Robert Milliner, Raymond Mouton, William Dugas, Milton Mouton, Clifford Mouton, Tommie Louviere, and Harold Mouton.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Beehive Homes of Youngsville and Hope Hospice for the exceptional care and compassion that was given to Clifton and his family.
