Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 10, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge, for Clopha Prejean, 87, who passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at his residence.
Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Fr. Allen Breaux will officiate at the funeral service. Readings will be read by his son, Norris. ;
Mr. Prejean was retired from BP-Amoco after 37 dedicated years of service. He enjoyed crawfishing, raising game fowl, working in his yard, and he had a great love for French music. He instilled in his family that "a hard day's work never did any harm to anyone." Mr. Prejean loved spending time with his family and friends and will be sadly missed by them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 67 years, Celestine Bergeron Prejean; one daughter, Hazel Bergeron and her husband, Ronald; two sons, Lee Roy Prejean and his wife, Phyllis, and Norris Prejean and his wife, Nellie, all of Breaux Bridge; one brother, Joseph Prejean, of Covington; 5 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Louis and Calima Martin Prejean; three sisters, Lucille Weber, Ozite Smalley, and Louise Credeur; two brothers, Louis and Wilfred Prejean; a grandson, Todd Prejean; and a great granddaughter, Michelle Robin.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a.m. until 10 p.m. on Thursday and continue at 7 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. on Friday.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Thursday.
Pallbearers will be Kyle Robin, Gerald Robin, Kenneth Prejean, Pat Prejean, Tony Meyers, II and Brock Robin.
Honorary pallbearers will be Raymond Prejean, Oran Credeur, Tony Meyers, and Troy Meyers.
The family would like to express special thanks to Dr. Deidre Stelly, St. Theresa's Hospice, Concepts of Care, and all those friends who were there during his time of need.
