Coach James “Jimmy” Waguespack, 76, of Cecilia, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2019, surrounded by his wife and children.
A United States Veteran, Jimmy was honorably discharged after joining the Army National Guard in high school; serving two active tours of duty in Fort Knox, Kentucky and Fort Polk, Louisiana; and serving in the National Guard for several years.
Coach Jimmy, inducted into the Louisiana High School Athletic Association’s Hall of Fame this past April, was a dedicated educator and coach who worked tirelessly throughout his 46-year career to inspire, in others, his passion and love for high school football. He loved fishing, talking about sports and politics, and spending time with his family. He was unwavering in his beliefs and causes, never complained, and pursued his passions with the tenacity and fight of a two-time undefeated state champion.
Jimmy will be forever remembered by his wife, Monica Becnel Waguespack, and his five children and their families: Deborah Rodrigue (Clark), grandsons Jacob and Matthew (Lesley) and great-grandson, Rhett; Angela Todd (Mark), grandchildren Kaitlyn and Ethan; Randall Waguespack (Patricia), grandsons Simon and Nicholas; Gregory Waguespack (Andria) and grandson Nathan; and Allison Fanguy (Ted) and granddaughters Olivia and Elleanor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Laurent and Clemence Waguespack, sister, Claribel Loupe (Leroy), and brother, Laurent (L.J.) Waguespack, Jr.
