Corando Vela Cantu

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2006, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge for Corando Vela Cantu, 77, who died Friday, March 10, 2006 at St. Martin Hospital in Breaux Bridge. Entombment will be in St. Bernard Mausoleum No. 1 in Breaux Bridge. Mr. Cantu helped with translating and interpreting the Spanish language in the local community and for the local police department. ?After retirement, his joy was to spend time with his family and friends, but most of all, loving his wife. Survivors include his wife, Frances M. Cantu; his son, Rollie Cantu and his wife, Mary Beth Matte; his daughter, Sylvia Uhall and her husband, Ted; and three grandchildren, Chazz, Justin and Kelli Cantu, all of Breaux Bridge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Candido and Angelina Vela Cantu; his brothers, Servando and Candido Cantu, Jr.; and one nephew, Rene Cantu. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 4:00 p.m. till 10:00 p.m., Sunday, March 12, 2006 and continue at 8:00 a.m., Monday, March 13, 2006 until time of service. Pallbearers will be Rollie Cantu, Ted Uhall, Chazz Cantu, Justin Cantu, Russell ""Shorty"" Huval and Ray Leon. Honorary Pallbearer will be Leroy Belaire. Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
