The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 am until 10:45 am on Saturday, at Crossroads Church.
Craig LaMott was born on March 29, 1960 in Houston, Texas to the proud parents of Arthur and Ruby Lee LaMott. He transitioned from his earthly life into eternal rest on Monday, October 20, 2014.
Craig was the youngest of six children. As the youngest son, he admired his older brothers as they were an inspiration to his development in becoming the best man he could be. Craig and his sister, Kimberly, had a very endearing relationship as they were the youngest.
Craig graduated from Worthing High School in 1978. Shortly after graduation, he joined the United States Army where he proudly served for two years. Upon receiving an honorable discharge, a wonderful blessing occurred upon his return. Craigs beautiful daughter, Keisha Emerald LaMott Mitchell, was born.
While still living in Houston, Craig enrolled in Massey Business College where he studied drafting. He was later employed with the Harris County Toll Authority. Given his skills and determination, Craig was soon promoted to supervisor.
Craig then met his true love, Dodie Jean Ledet. The two were married in September 1989 and began their life together. In August of 1991, beautiful Ebony Jarnie LaMott was born to this union. The LaMott family lived in Houston, Texas before relocating to Broussard, Louisiana in 1992. Craig then worked for Grainger, Inc. In a few short years, Craig and Dodie were blessed with another bundle of joy, Craig LaMott, Jr., born in June of 1996. Craig, Sr. later joined the team at Iberia General Hospital where he worked in their Purchasing Department.
In later years, Craig, Sr., being dedicated to his parents, traveled back and forth to Houston, Texas to do what he could as their health had begun to deteriorate. Once his dad passed in January of 2009, his mothers health continued to spiral downward. Craig, Sr. continued to travel back and forth to assist in caring for his mother. While in Houston, he was employed by the City of Houston. Sadly, Craig, Sr. and the remaining LaMott siblings experienced the loss of their mother in May of 2014.
Craig, Sr. enjoyed baking, cooking, drawing, decorating especially in celebration of the holidays with Christmas being his favorite, painting, playing tennis and even was an entrepreneur in refurbishing furniture and automobile detailing. He believed in providing for his family. Craig, Sr. thoroughly enjoyed spending quality time with his family including tackling special projects around the house.
Craig, Sr.s own health began to deteriorate in June of 2012. He battled and fought with this for 2 and years. Through it all, Craig, Sr. enjoyed life and in the early summer of 2014, the LaMott family along with special friends traveled to Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida where they shared one of the best vacations ever.
Craig LaMott, Sr. was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Ruby Lee LaMott and brother, Michael Ray LaMott. Craig LaMott, Sr. leaves to cherish his memories: his loving wife of 25 years, Dodie Jean LaMott; daughter, Keisha Emerald LaMott Mitchell; daughter, Ebony Jarnie LaMott, son, Craig LaMott, Jr.; two grandchildren, Jackson Isaiah Nolen, and Jonah Rye LaMott; three brothers, Dwayne LaMott, Darryl (Sue) LaMott, Arthur (Teresa) LaMott; sister, Kimberly (Garry) LaMott Jones; and nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of relatives and friends.
