A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Craig Michael Mayard was born on November 26, 1950, to the late Clement Mayard Sr. and Goldie Marie Melancon Mayard Moore.  He was a devoted mechanic who dedicated his skills to Alpha Rentals, his second family whom he cherished. Craig was delighted to see his coworkers’ children visit, and acted as their honorary uncle. He always had money to give them, and they looked forward to receiving it.

Throughout his life, Craig found joy in the intricate workings of machines. His career as a mechanic not only showcased his expertise but also his passion for ensuring that everything ran smoothly for others. He was a meticulous worker who always went the extra mile to lend a helping hand.

Beyond his professional life, Craig had a love for collecting various items that piqued his interest. He loved collecting boats, classic cars, clocks, swords, and knives. Each piece held a story and added to the tapestry of his life.

Above all else, Craig cherished time spent with family. He adored them, and loved family vacations.

Mr. Mayard is survived by his loving wife, Dina Pellerin Mayard; daughters, Devan Richard (Adam), and Jensi Istre; siblings, Clement “Butch” Mayard Jr. (Anne), Alita Broussard (Carl Sr.), and Jerome Mayard; nieces and nephews, Julien Mayard (Elena), Alecia Guilbeau (Brennan), Carl “Bubba” Broussard Jr., Shauna Smith (John), Tony Mayard, and Latisha McCann (Thomas); and numerous great-nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Sawyer Elizabeth Richard; father-in-law, Warren Pellerin; and a niece, Jennifer Tilton.

Pallbearers will be Clement Mayard Jr., Jerome Mayard, Julien Mayard, Carl Broussard Sr., Carl “Bubba” Broussard Jr., and Dean Jeansonne.

Craig leaves behind a legacy of hard work, generosity, and love. While he may no longer be with us in person, his spirit will continue to inspire those whose lives he touched. May he rest in peace.
