Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, at Pellerin Funeral Home Chapel in Breaux Bridge, for Crespin Gonzalez, 89, who passed away on Saturday, June 13, 2009 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Deacon Butch Hebert, will conduct the services.
Crespin honorably served his country in the Army during World War II in Normandy, France and Germany. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his family, friends and his wife of 63 years. He was known to his friends and family as a gifted mechanic.
The family wishes to thank the personnel of the 4th and 5th floor of Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center and Hospice of Acadiana for their care and support.
Survivors include his wife, Esperanza Lopez Rios Gonzalez; his daughters, Lydia Gonzalez and her companion, L. J. Higginbotham , Odelia Gonzalez, Sylvia Gonzalez, Caroline Gonzalez Noland and her husband, Richard and Suzanna Gonzalez; his brothers, Manuel Gonzalez of Portland, OR, Domingo Gonzalez of Alice, TX and Vicente Gonzalez of McAllen, TX; his grandchildren, Abbie Feerick, Tami Bourque, Scarlet Berard, Michael Mahfouz, Jan-Paul Guidry, Collette LeBourgeois, Gina Gonzales, Glen Richard and Haley Richard; his great grandchildren, Beau Feerick, Chelsea Feerick, Ashley Feerick, T.J. Bourque, Danielle Bourque, Mary Beth Bourque, Sophie Berard, Grace LeBourgeois, Estelle LeBourgeois, Dylan LeBourgeois, Jean Luke Guidry, Jacques Guidry, Sadie Richard, Seth Richard and Kody Mahfouz.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Vicente and Faustina Gonzalez, his brothers, Luciano, Thomas, Eluterio, Desiderio, Jose' and Fidel Gonzalez.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Monday, June 15, 2009 and continue at 7 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Jan-Paul Guidry, Michael Mahfouz, Beau Feerick, Ezra LeBourgeois, Glenn Richard and Richard Noland.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
