Coteau Holmes - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, February 3, 2017, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes for Curtis J. Gardemal, Sr., 70, who passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:30 am until 9:00 pm on Thursday, and continue on Friday at 8:00 am until 2:00 pm, at Pellerin Funeral Home in St. Martinville.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Thursday.
Rev. Joseph Padinjarepeedika will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Irma DeBlanc. Gift bearers will be Samuel Clawson, III and Zeke Clawson.
Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes.
Curtis served in the Louisiana Army National Guard for 6 years. He was a very hard worker and worked at Texas Iron Works for over 27 years. He enjoyed working in his yard, gambling, and most of all being with his family. Family and friends were important to Curtis, especially his grandkids. He will be dearly missed.
He is survived by his loving wife, Elaine Berard Gardemal; sons, Ted J. Schexnayder and wife Audrey "Denise" of St. Martinville, Timothy Berard and wife Claudene Breaux Berard of Loreauville, and Curtis J. Gardemal, Jr. and wife Adrienne of Lafayette; daughters, Tessie Gardemal of New Iberia, Arlene Schexnayder of Coteau Holmes, and Shelly Picard of St. Martinville; sister, Daisy Laviolette of Catahoula; nine grandchildren; and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marcel and Linda Dugas Gardemal, Sr.; sister, Theresa Barras, Juanita Gardemal, Hazel G. Stevens, Mazel Romero, and Shirley Guidry; and brother, Marcel Gardemal, Jr.
Pallbearers will be Tim Berard, Obrey Ronsonet, Craig Boutte, David "Nunu" Laviolette, Dale Barras, and Errol Laviolette.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ted J. Schexnayder, Curtis J. Gardemal Jr., and Curtis "Trip" Gardemal III.
