New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 28, 2008, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church, for Curtis L. Lavergne, 75, who passed away on Sunday, October 26, 2008 in New Iberia.
Born on October 30, 1932 in Rayne, Mr. Lavergne is retired from Coburn Supply with over 40 years of service. He proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and then in the National Guard for 21 years. A past member of the Rotary Club of New Iberia, and the Lions Club, Mr. Lavergne was one of the founding members of the Iberia Builders Association. His passions included traveling, sports, camping and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Bourque Lavergne of New Iberia; daughter, Janice Suire and husband Randy of New Iberia; son, Bryan Lavergne and wife Linda Cormier Lavergne of Lafayette; brother, Viliar "Blackie" Lavergne and wife Rowena of Lafayette; sister, Beatrice Breaux of Lafayette; grandchildren, Mickey J. Suire, Shawn M. Suire, Claire E. Lavergne, Mitchel J. Suire, Paige C. Lavergne; great grandchild, Matthew J. Suire.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Telesmar and Octavie Alleman Lavergne; sister, Irene Cormier; brother, Edmund Lavergne; and infant sisters.
Pallbearers include Mickey Suire, Shawn Suire, Mitchel Suire, Rick Lavergne, Ricky Stutes, and Edmond Cormier.
Honorary Pallbearers are Bryan Lavergne and Randy Suire.
A gathering of family and friends will be Monday from 3:30 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 PM Monday. Visitation will continue Tuesday from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM.
