St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Friday, December 30, 2016, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in St. Martinville for Cynthia Rose Gauthier, 80, who passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2016, in her home surrounded by her family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 1:30 pm on Friday.
A rosary will be prayed on at 10:00 am.
Reverend Richard Fabre will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
Cynthia was born in St. Martin Parish to the late Llewellyn and Hazel Lavergne Gauthier. She was a graduate of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School and then attended Spencer Business College (SLI). Cynthia was a retiree of the L.S.U. Nutrition Program and a longtime member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas. She also worked in a drug store, jewelry store, a veterinary clinic, and Le Petit Paris Museum. Throughout the years she taught night school and religion classes. Her telephone was her prized possession. She enjoyed talking to anyone and everyone. Cynthia liked researching her ancestry. She was able to care for both of her parents in their later years. Cynthia will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank AAA Hospice and their staff for the care that was given to her.
She is survived by her loving brothers, Lance Gauthier and wife Madeline, Lowell Gauthier, and Lynn Gauthier; many nieces and nephews; and her caregivers, Mary, Ginger, Leslie, Megan, and Tiffany.
She was preceded in death by father, Llewellyn "Lou" Gauthier; mother, Hazel Lavergne Gauthier; brother, Elbern "Be-Be" Darbonne; and niece, Alicia A. Gauthier.
