New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 12:30 pm on Saturday, June 8, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Cyrus Rider, 90, who passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 6, 2019, surrounded by his loving family.
Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery.
Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate.
A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 9:00 am until 12:30 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary, led by the Nativity of Our Lady Rosary Group, will be prayed at 12 Noon on Saturday.
A longtime resident of New Iberia, he was born the youngest of ten children on August 15, 1928 in Mamou, Louisiana. Cyrus served his country as a Merchant Marine and in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.
Survivors include his wife, Gloria Romero Rider; daughters, Sandy Hunter of New Orleans, Karen Broussard and husband Paul of New Iberia; grandchildren, Megan Elizabeth Hunter of New Orleans, Trey Fowler of New Iberia, Madeline Elizabeth Fowler of New Iberia; family friend, Carla Carolina Ortega Rodriguez of Venezuela; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Zenon Rider, mother, Ada Perron Rider, nine siblings, and a son-in-law, Jack Hunter.
Pallbearers will be Trey Fowler, Paul Broussard, Kevin Romero, Lucas Suire, Larry Romero, Jr., and James Johnstone.
The family wishes to give special thanks to Rev. Ed Degeyter, Dr. Robert Hankenhof, the staff at New Iberia Manor South Nursing Home, Home Instead, and his many caregivers for their exceptional care, love, and compassion.
