Daisy Berard

Cecilia - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 7, 2007, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cecilia for Daisy Cotrel Berard, 85, who died Friday, May 4, 2007 at her residence. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in Cecilia. Ms. Berard had no children, but raised her godchild, nieces and nephews as her own. ?She loved to cook, bake and spend time in her garden. ?She will be sadly missed by all who loved her. Survivors include her husband of 69 years, Dewey Berard of Cecilia; her godchild and great niece, Ludy Huval Dupuis and her husband, Ray of Cecilia; her niece, Oline Huval of Cecilia; her great niece, Della Marks and her husband, Leonard; her great nephews, Ernest Huval, Jr. and his wife, Peggy, Brent Huval and his wife, Danielle, all of Cecilia, and Randy Huval and his wife, Lisa of Arnaudville; her great-great nephew, Nicholas Dupuis; and her great-great niece, Kayla Dupuis Sonnier and her husband, Dewey, and their son, Brandon. She was preceded in death by her parents, Rosenberg ""Nookie"" and Allana Brasseaux Cotrel; her brother, Joseph Cotrel; and her sisters, Luda Scrantz, Nursay Marks, and Mathilde Lasseigne. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 8:30 a.m. until 10:00 p.m. on Sunday and continue at 8:00 a.m. on Monday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be Ray Dupuis, Brandon Sonnier, Dewey Sonnier, Ernest Huval, Jr., Nicholas Dupuis, and Brent Huval. Honorary pallbearers will be Troy and Roy Huval. The family would like to thank Hospice of Acadiana, Stat Home Health, and Dr. Kemp Coreil, for the wonderful care that was given to Ms. Daisy during her final days. Pellerin Funeral Home of Cecilia is in charge of arrangements.
