Daisy Boutte Connell

New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, December 15, 2020, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Daisy Boutte Connell, 95, who passed away on Sunday, December 13, 2020, at Consolata Nursing Home. Entombment will follow at St. Peter's Cemetery in New Iberia. Rev. Garrett Savoie will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 10:30 am until 1:30 pm on Tuesday, with Recitation of the Rosary at 11:30am. A resident and native of New Iberia, Daisy Boutte Connell was born on February 5, 1925 to the late Sidney P. Boutte, Sr. and Louise Daisy Mary Broussard Boutte. She was a talented seamstress and made most of her own clothing (always pinks and blues!). She and her husband, Everette moved from Rhode Island to New Iberia in 1980, and built a home on Highway 90. As a couple, they participated in the Senior Olympics and won 27 medals for badminton. Daisy retired as an LPN from Iberia Medical Center, where she worked in Delivery and Recovery. She will be deeply missed. Mrs. Connell is survived by one brother, Elton (Gloria) Boutte; and numerous nieces and nephews, including Katherine "Kitty" Ruiz (husband Cordell) of New Iberia. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everette Connell; and ten siblings, Ode Boutte, Dallas Boutte, Carroll Boutte, Odille B. Perrero, Sidney Boutte, Jr., Alcide Boutte, Henry Boutte, Dudley Boutte, Adam Boutte, and Marcelite Boutte. The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to all of her caregivers, Sandra Bourque, Deja Sohm, Racheal Washington, Carlotta Armelin, Patricia Derouen, Morgan Waldmann, and Pat Hypolite; and the entire staff of Consolata Nursing Home for extraordinary care and compassion.
