Coteau Holmes - Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Monday, September 27, 2010, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Coteau Holmes for Dalton Dugas, 89, who passed away on Friday, September 24, 2010. Interment will follow at St. Elizabeth Cemetery in Coteau Holmes. Rev. Joseph Padinjarepeedika, will conduct the services. Readers will be Gwyn Berard and Mary Ann Dugas. Gift Bearers will be Lauren Olivier, Brooke Olivier, Max Dugas, Tara Serrette and Amber Dugas. A veteran of the U.S. Army, Dalton proudly served our country during World War II. He was the first known person to put crawfish on the market. He was a true pioneer of the crawfish industry. His hobbies included camping, fishing and watching baseball, especially the Atlanta Braves. Survivors include his loving wife of 68 years, Rena Lasseigne Dugas of Coteau Holmes; one son, Allen Dugas, Sr. and his wife Geraldine Fremin Dugas of Coteau Holmes; one daughter, Patricia (Pat) Dugas Olivier and her husband, Gerald Olivier of Catahoula; six grandchildren, Troy Olivier and his wife, Karin, David Dugas and his wife, Jennifer, Tessie Serrette and her husband, David, Sherrie Resweber and her husband, Paul, Jason Dugas and his wife, Dawn and Mark Dugas and his wife, Heidi; fourteen great-grandchildren, Josh Serrette, and his wife, Monique, Heather Resweber, Krista Dugas, Jude Dugas, Kayla Dugas, Candice Resweber, Alyse Dugas, Braxton Resweber, Amber Dugas, Max Dugas, Lauren Olivier, Tara Serrette, Brooke Olivier and Jaiden Dugas; and one great-great grandchild, Jace Serrette. He was preceded in death by his parents, Fernest and Zoe Berard Dugas; two brothers, Harry 'Hop' Dugas, Sr. and Adamar 'AJ' Dugas; two sisters, Euline Dugas Guidry and Aline Dugas Daigle; and one grandson, Allen 'Lil Al' Dugas, Jr. The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9 a .m. until 10 p.m. on Sunday, September 26, 2010 and continue at 8 a .m. until 12:30 p.m. on Monday. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. on Sunday. Pallbearers will be David Dugas, Troy Olivier, Jason Dugas, Mark Dugas, Paul Resweber, and David Serrette.
