A resident of New Iberia, Daniel Magee Martin was born in Baton Rouge, Louisiana on November 3, 1984, and was a graduate of Walker High School Class of 2003. On April 13, 2012, Daniel and Faith Weeks Martin were joined in marriage. Daniel had a love for fishing and, and on any given day (or full moon night), could be found on the water. He shared this passion not only with his own children but many others. He was one of the most naturally talented bull riders that ever graced the Southeastern Circuit. Although his career was tragically cut short due to injury, Daniel still managed to capture the prestigious LHSRA State Title as a high school senior in 2003, a feat accomplished by only a few. With over a decade of experience in the car business, Daniel was one of the best. He could sell anyone on his way of thinking, and had a gift of thinking outside the box. Being a “car guy” is who he was, through and through. Daniel was a loving husband and a proud father. This was exemplified through his interactions with his beloved family and heart to be a father to the fatherless. Daniel and Faith attended church regularly at Our Savior’s Church, welcomed God to be the leader of their marriage, and honored their commitment to each other. Daniel encouraged Gavyn, Maddox, and Jayce on anything they set their minds to and further motivated them as the coach of their baseball team. Daniel was a man of God and had an unwavering love for the Lord. Although he walked down some dark paths, he had a determination to bring Jesus’ light with him. He will be deeply missed.
Mr. Martin is survived by his loving wife, Faith; parents, Tony and Nancy Howze Martin; children, Gavyn Martin, Hadley Hebert, Maddox Martin and Jayce Martin; brother, Jacob Martin (Miki); parents-in-law, Scotty and Hope Weeks; grandparents, Suzanne Aydell Howze, and Rex B. and Peggy Lott Martin; and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ivy Lee Howze, Sr.
