Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, August 29, 2005, at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Darrel ""Black"" Blanchard, 76, who died Saturday, August 27, 2005 at his residence in Breaux Bridge.
Interment will be in St. Bernard Cemetery No. 2 in Breaux Bridge.
Mr. Blanchard retired from the LA. Department of Transportation and Development after 25 years of service. ?He was a veteran of the Korean War, having served in the U.S. Army. ?He was a member of the American Legion and Woodmen of the World.
Survivors include his son, Clifford Blanchard and his wife, Leola of Breaux Bridge; his brothers, Sam Blanchard, Vernon Blanchard, Alvin Blanchard, and Gerald Blanchard, all of Breaux Bridge; his sister, Agnes B. Patin of Breaux Bridge; and one grandson, Scotty Blanchard and his wife, Christine of Breaux Bridge.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Daisy H. Blanchard; his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Alberie Blanchard; his brothers, Ernest and Cecil Blanchard; and his grandson, Brandon Blanchard.
The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. ~ 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 28, 2005 and continue at 7:00 a.m. on Monday until time of service.
A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday.
Pellerin Funeral Home of Breaux Bridge is in charge of arrangements.
