Darrell 'Charlie' Charles Kately

Saint Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Notre Dame Catholic Church in Saint Martinville, for Darrell "Charlie" Charles Kately, 61, who passed away on Thursday, September 24, 2015, at Dauterive Hospital. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Saturday. Rev. Michael Sucharski will officiate at the Mass of Christian Burial. Altar Servers will be Terralynn Calais and Janae Narcisse. Gift Bearers will be Virginia James Calais and Darilyn Kately. Readers will be Trisha Willis and Arietta Willis. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in Saint Martinville. Charlie loved to fish and plant flowers and vegetables in his garden. He loved people and was a friend to everyone he met. He also enjoyed being with his family especially for family gatherings and events. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his loving spouse, Mary Durgan Etienne Kately; daughter, Darilyn Kately; step daughters, Tiffany Charles, Felicia Walker, and Lakesha Etienne; grandchildren, Cambry Charles, Cydnee Charles, and Mya Walker; godchildren, Virginia James Calais and Danny Kately, Jr.; sisters, Augustine Dauphine, Mariah Kately Jacob, Dena Kately, and Erline James; and brothers, Michael Joseph Kately, Ray Allen Kately, and Lesley Kately. He was preceded in death by his father, Sam Kately, Jr.; his mother, Virginia Kately; and his sisters, Caroline Dauphine and Lynie Willis. Pallbearers will be Gerald James, Kendra James, James Marks, Arthur G. Willis, Isiah Kately and Darren Honore' Sr. Honorary pallbearers will be Rayallen Kately, Michael Kately, Adam Durgan Sr., Clifford Narcisse, Clabert Durgan, Albert Durgan Jr., Roy Jones, Kevin James, Carl James, Danny Kately Sr., Leslie Kately, Treven Kately, Deshayne Calais, Caroll Dauphine and Terry Calais.
