Breaux Bridge - A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge for Darrell Joseph Patin Sr., 84, who passed away on Monday, January 2, 2017, at his residence. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 5:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 11:00 am. A rosary will be prayed by Sister Mary Tarsisus at 7:00 pm on Wednesday. Rev. Brian Taylor will officiate at the Funeral Service. Reader will be Jennifer Patin. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette. Darrell was an avid sportsman who enjoyed raising his beagles, hunting, fishing, and was a member of the National Rifle Association. He was known locally by many for his expertise in making duck calls and jigs for fishing. Darrell was a master photographer who enjoyed taking photos as a pastime. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy and fought in the Korean War. At family gatherings, Darrell loved telling his children and grandchildren stories of Japan and Guam. Although he had many accomplishments, his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were his life. He is survived by his son, Darrell "Pat" Patin, Jr. and wife Paula of Breaux Bridge; daughters, Daryln "Joanie" Patin Guy and Deryl Jeanne Patin, both of Church Point; sisters, Shirley Patin of Lafayette and Myrna Patin Boulet of Breaux Bridge; grandchildren, Brady Guy, Jennifer Patin, Daniel Patin, Danielle Coston, Dane LaCombe, and Aerial Chapman; and great grandchildren, Baylen Guy, Adalee Guy, Emalee Jeanne Patin, Olivia Coston, Jacob Coston, and Oliver Guidry. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Melba Jeanne Patin; and his parents, Bella and Cyrus Joseph Patin. Pallbearers will be Robbie Boulet, Brent Boulet, Daniel Patin, Dane LaCombe, Ross Coston, and Andy Kober. Honorary pallbearer will be Brady Guy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to his family to help defray funeral expenses.
