New Iberia – Private services will be held at a later date for David Edward Cumer III, 67, who passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, January 6, 2024, in Ville Platte, LA.
David was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on November 8, 1956, to the late David Edward Cumer Jr. and Rose T. Cuda. He was raised with strong values and an unwavering work ethic. He was a very hard worker, and a talented oilfield mechanic and welder.
Beyond his career accomplishments, David's true joy lay in his family. His grandbabies held a special place in his heart; their laughter brought him immeasurable happiness. He would often spend hours playing with them and imparting wisdom gathered over the years. The bond they shared was strengthened by every cherished moment they spent together.
David is survived by two sons, Justin Cumer (Melissa) of New Iberia, and Dustin Cumer (Christin) of Pittsburgh; a sister, Deborah Lattimer (Jon) of Honolulu; and four grandchildren, Evren, Dante, Ryker and Luna.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Diane Breaux; and a brother, Dale F. Cumer.
David's presence may no longer grace our lives, but his spirit will forever live on in the hearts and minds of those who knew him. As we bid farewell to this remarkable soul, may his legacy serve as a guiding light, reminding us to embrace hard work, cherish family, and find joy in life's simplest pleasures.
