David Louis

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, August 4, 2012 at St. Peter Catholic Church in New Iberia for David Louis, Sr., 54, who died Saturday, July 22, 2012 in Honduras. Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Charles Langlois will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Saturday from 8:00 AM until 10:15 AM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, New Iberia, LA. David Paul Louis was born on October 18, 1957 in New Iberia, Louisiana to Joseph Milton and Dorothy Derouen Louis. He joined his Lord and Savior on Sunday July 22, 2012. He was a graduate of Catholic High School and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. David's love for God lead him to serve as a Lector at St. Peter's Catholic Church and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Following in his father's footsteps, David served his community as a home builder and carpenter. He worked as a fire fighter for the New Iberia Fire Department and retired as Captain after 20 years of service. He was employed by Industrial Safety Solutions as a safety coordinator. David enjoyed playing basketball, football, barbequing and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his father, Milton Joseph Louis. He leaves to cherish his memory: Valerie Alexander Louis, his spouse of 22 years, his mother, Dorothy Derouen Louis of New Iberia; his sons, Bradley J. Louis, USAF stationed in Turkey, and David P. Louis, Jr. of New Iberia; his daughters, Elizabeth A. Louis and Mary Catherine Louis of New Iberia; his brothers, Joseph Louis and John Louis both of Houston, Anthony Louis of New Iberia, Dr. Patrick Louis of Birmingham, Alabama, and Edward Louis of Lafayette; his sisters, Marcella Louis and Mary Louis Veazie both of Houston, and Diane Louis of New Iberia; and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Pallbearers include Bradley J. Louis, Joseph M. Louis, Anthony Louis, Dr. Patrick Louis, John Louis, and Edward Louis.
