A lifelong resident of New Iberia, David Manuel, Jr. was born on August 7, 1946, to the late David, Sr. and Lovinia Archon Manuel. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, and he lived a life rich with purpose, passion, and an unwavering love for his family and community.

David was a proud graduate of Jonas Henderson High School in 1966, where he met the love of his life, Georgia Ann Bashay. David's thirst for knowledge propelled him further to Grambling State University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in 1971. His career began at Sager Brown Methodist School in Baldwin, Louisiana, where he taught and coached 7th and 8th graders from 1971-73. He then entered the oilfield sector, beginning offshore and culminating in his retirement as a Hazmat Logistics Manager for Texaco. After retirement, David continued his commitment to service as a Deputy Marshall for the New Iberia City Court, embodying dedication and integrity throughout his profession.

Mr. Manuel was more than just a diligent worker; he was a sports enthusiast whose heart raced for the highs and lows of Saints football. His joyful spirit lit up any space he entered, and his kindness and generosity touched the lives of those around him. A family man to the core, David found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life—especially playing board games, where he cherished the moments spent teaching his grandchildren the art of Chinese checkers.

David held his church family at Star Pilgrim Baptist Church close to his heart. His faith guided him, and he touched the lives of myriad individuals within his spiritual community. He was on many church committees, but his passion was leading the Homecoming Planning Committee for many years.

He was known to take great pleasure in flower gardening, nurturing vibrant blooms that mirrored his own radiant personality.

An aficionado of dark coffee, David often delighted those around him with tales of his daily brew while sharing moments of laughter and love. His home was a gathering place, filled with warmth, countless memories, and profound conversations over cups of coffee and games that turned into treasured storylines of their own.

Mr. Manuel leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Georgia Bashay Manuel; three sons, Todd Manuel (Nikki), Trent Manuel (Lisa), and David Manuel III (Bonnie); and grandchildren, Dailen Manuel, Carsen Manuel, Payton Manuel, David Manuel IV, Quinn Marie Manuel, and Dallas Charles Manuel.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

David leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and a commitment to others that will remain in the hearts of all who knew him. May he rest in peace.
