Breaux Bridge - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church for David J. Williams, 59, who passed away on Monday, August 15, 2022 at Our Lady of Lourdes Medical Center in Lafayette.

 

A visitation will take place at Pellerin Funeral Home in Breaux Bridge on Saturday from 7:00 am until 10:00 am.

 

A rosary will be prayed at 8:30 am on Saturday morning.

 

Interment will follow at St. Bernard Cemetery #2 in Breaux Bridge.

 

David, known to many as the "Pork Steak Man", worked as a cook for 20 years at Charlie T's Specialty Meats. He also retired from Chili's as a cook after 24 years. David was a hardworking man, who loved to barbecue. He was well known in the community of Breaux Bridge and he never met a stranger. David loved cooking for his family and friends, and he always kept everyone laughing. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, and brother, that will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

 

He is survived by his daughter, Ericka Sylvester; sons, David Sylvester, Sr. (Alicia), Danny Sylvester, and Joseph Sylvester, Sr.; mother, Anna Matthew Williams; significant other, Suzanne Frederick; step-daughters, Christina Judge (Michael), Mary Jane Frederick, and Neoshia Frederick (Brittany); grandchildren, Carlus Broussard, Jr., Karsen Sylvester, David Sylvester, Jr., Cody Sylvester, Justin Sylvester, Joseph Sylvester, Jr., Joquan Sylvester, Jakyra Borel, Jordan Sylvester, Jaden Sylvester, Jace Sylvester, Daren Borel, Anaya Andrus, Joe Sylvester, Keion Sylvester, J. Sylvester, Marlasha Joseph, Mariah Charles, Marvin Charles and Shelton Joseph, III; step-grandchildren, Cameron Frederick, Ashantae Judge, Caden Judge, Kavon Judge, Javion Frederick, Ayden Frederick and Carter Cormier; brothers, Gaston Williams, Jr. (Lisa), Patrick Williams, Mark Williams, Carlton Ledet, and Christopher Williams (Vanessa); and sisters, Genora Constantine (Chris), Shara Wiltz, Valarie Sam (Willie), Tralissa Chevalier, Lisa John (Joseph) and Garalyn Ngassa.

 

He is preceded in death by father, Gaston Williams, Sr.; brothers, Germaine Williams and Kenneth Williams, Sr.; niece, Courtney Barber; step-daughter, Cathy Sylvester Joseph; sister-in-law, Rhonda Williams; maternal grandparents, Eugene and Marita Sylvester Matthew; and paternal grandparents, Amos and Matilda Castille Williams.
