Dean Romero

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM Saturday, September 10, 2011 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Dean A. Romero, 62 who died Wednesday, September 7, 2011 in New Iberia . Interment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery . Rev. Mark Derise will be the Celebrant. Born on June 23, 1949 , Dean was a native and lifelong resident of New Iberia , and retired as a Captain of the New Iberia Fire Department with 24 years of service. A Purple Heart recipient, he proudly served our country in the U.S. Army during two tours of Vietnam , and is a member of the American Legion Post 335. Dean loved doing mechanic work for family and friends, and had a passion for antique cars. He loved going to car shows, races, saltwater fishing, cooking, going to the casino, but most of all spending time with his family and friends. Dean's beautiful smile will sadly be missed by all. Survivors include his wife Loretta Kidder Romero of New Iberia; stepson, Christopher Pomier and wife Nicole of Lafayette; step daughter, Christene Soloman and husband Judus of Lafayette; brothers, Denny Romero and wife Delores of New Iberia, Ossie Romero, Jr. and wife Gloria of New Iberia; sister, Janell David of New Iberia; 7 step grandchildren, Cade Duckworth, Connor Pomier, Parker Pomier, Jasmine Soloman, Chrishton Pomier, Aliah Soloman, and Izaha Soloman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ossie Romero, Sr. and Amy Derouen Romero. Pallbearers will be Ossie Romero, Jr., Denny Romero, Brad Romero, Greg Romero, B.J. Romero, and Christopher Pomier. A gathering of family and friends will be Friday from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd , in New Iberia . A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Friday.
