St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 am, on Thursday, December 31, 2015, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church in Saint Martinville, for DeBlanc A. Beslin, 90, who passed away on Saturday, December 26, 2015, at his residence.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 11:00 am until 9:00 pm on Wednesday, and continue on Thursday at 7:00 am until 10:00 am. A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Msgr. Jefferson DeBlanc will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at St. Michael Cemetery in St. Martinville.
He was the founder and owner of Bay-Lan Advertising Specialties, Inc. DeBlanc was a tenacious business man, continuing to work until he was 88 years old. His famous slogan, All I ask is an honest advantage was often a topic of discussion. Though many had difficulty understanding the meaning behind it, DeBlanc always had a way of making the sale, confidently remarking that sure is a nice item. DeBlanc was forever grateful to his devoted customers who he always referred to as his extended family.
He graduated from SLI (now UL Lafayette), served his country in the army, and was as WWII Veteran. He also enjoyed plenty of card games with his long-time special friends, Patsy Bertrand, Estelle Labbe, Betty Trail, J-Boy and Eddie Guirard (both deceased), Claudia Fuselier (deceased), Theresa Olivier, Shirley Akers, Joe and Wynona Standridge (deceased), Eboo Bienvenu, along with their chef, Liz Bertrand. Most of all, DeBlanc was a family man, who always loved being surrounded by his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his children, Gwendolyn Beslin Tabor and husband Al, Steve Beslin, Anne Beslin Melancon and husband George, Tommy Beslin and wife Lori; grandchildren, Jacob Beslin, Ali Beslin Savoy and spouse Gregory, Wyatt Tabor, John Beslin, and Marly Melancon.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lilly Belle Guirard Beslin; grandson, Garrett Matthew Tabor; parents, Marc Frederick Beslin and Philomene Emilie DeBlanc Beslin; siblings, Philomine Bergeron, Leona Bassin, Emilie Armentor, Lillian Hebert, Gladys Mullet, Marie Randall, Olympe D''Albor, Henry F. Beslin, Mark F. Beslin, Ralph Beslin, Louis Beslin, J.J. Beslin, and Gus Beslin.
Pallbearers will be his grandsons Jacob Beslin, Wyatt Tabor, John Beslin, and his nephews Billy Boggs, Mark Beslin, Robert Guirard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Cal Guirard, and Judge E.L. "Bubba" Guidry.
Lectors will be his granddaughter, Ali Beslin Savoy; and niece, Shirley Akers. Gift bearers will be his granddaughter, Marly Melancon and Yvette Guirard.
The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to Fathers Rusty Richard, Michael Champagne, and Kenneth Bienvenu, along with his caregivers Terri Francis, Terry Walker, Pat Broussard, and Hospice of Acadiana.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wounded Warriors Project ( PO Box 758541, Topeka, Kansas 66675-8541).
