Debora Darby Sonnier

New Iberia - Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Debra Darby Sonnier, 58, who passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2018, in Lafayette. Entombment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery. Rev. Ed Degeyter will officiate. A gathering of family and friends will be Tuesday from 2:30 pm until 8:00 pm at Pellerin Funeral Home. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 pm Tuesday. Visitation will continue on Wednesday from 8:00 am until 3:00 pm. A native and lifelong resident of New Iberia, Debora was born on July 31, 1959 to Lester and Iris Prince Darby. She worked at the Lydia Food Store for many years, and she enjoyed cooking, being outdoors, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include her sons, Cody Viator and wife Beth of New Iberia, Jeremy Viator of Erath; father, Lester Darby of Jeanerette; brother, Kevin Darby and companion Shannon Walker of New Iberia; grandchildren, Trevor Viator, Paityn Viator, Jett Viator; nephews, Josh Baudoin, Shawn Baudoin; nieces, Kimberly Baudoin, Meagan Duplechain, and Kourtney Langlinais. She was preceded in death by her mother, Iris Darby, sisters, Sheila Darby and Pam Darby Baudoin, and a brother, Lester Darby, Jr. Pallbearers will be Cody Viator, Jeremy Viator, Brian Hargrave, Kevin Darby, Joshua Baudoin, and Shawn Baudoin. Honorary pallbearers include Kimberly Baudoin, Dan LaPorte, Meagan Duplechain, and Trevor Viator.
