New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, April 13, 2019, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Deela Keohavong, 81, who passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 2, 2019, after a brave battle with cancer.
Entombment will follow in Holy Family Cemetery.
Pastors Souband Keohavong and Phaysane Sengsourivong will be the Officiants.
A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm on Saturday.
Deela Keohavong was born in Savannahkhet, Laos on September 10, 1937, and came to the United States as a refugee during the Vietnam War to make a better life for her family and herself. She started working as a seamstress, and eventually retired from Bruce Foods. Ms. Deela enjoyed fishing and gardening/growing her own food. She lived a simple life, and most importantly loved God.
Ms. Deela is survived by son, Nanhtharath "Nathan" Bounnong of France; daughter, Lathy Keohavong of Laos; sisters, Matha Keohavong and husband Souband of New Iberia, Pisila Keohavong of France, and Lady Keohavong of New Iberia; granddaughters, Tai McGee and husband Kirk of Idaho, and Jennifer Bounnong; grandsons, Vincent and Thomas Bounnong of France, and Bountuem Xaynhachack of Laos; six great-grandchildren, Caitlin and Kristen Suire, Romy and Warren Bounnong, two more in Laos; and many nieces and nephews around the world.
She was preceded in death by her father, Keo Keohavong; mother, Bounthan Keohavong; husband, Bounnong Bounnong; brother and sister-in-law, Ly and Chanh Keohavong; and nephews, Pone and Phay Keohavong.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Bounnong, Oudone Keohavong, Phonesavahn Keohavong, Chanhsamone Keohavong, Chad Keohavong, and Phoang Nguyen.
