Della Ames

Breaux Bridge - Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM, Saturday, June 25, 2005, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge for Della Thomas Ames, 89, who died Thursday, June 16, 2005 at Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Medical Center. Interment will be in St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Mrs. Ames was one of two children born from the union of the late Henry and Lucille Castille Thomas of Broussard. ?She married Landrus Ames, Sr. and had five children, who were raised in the Breaux Bridge - Cecilia area. She was self-employed as a housekeeper for many, many years. ?Everyone loved ""T' Lou"". ?The last two months of her life she was hospitalized and was overcome by cancer. It was a very painful journey for her, but she made it to the promiseland. ?She passed away on that unforgettable day with Kelli L. Brown and Hilda Ames at her bedside. ?She is gone, but is never to be forgotten. Survivors include her sons, Leroy Ames of Breaux Bridge, Henry Ames and his wife, Maudrey of Houston, TX, and Wallace Ames and his wife, Hilda of Breaux Bridge; her daughter, Lucille Ames Brown of Breaux Bridge; thirty grandchildren, sixty-five great grandchildren and forty-one great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Landrus Ames; her son, Joseph Landrus Ames; an infant daughter; her parents, Henry and Lucille Castille Thomas; and her brother, Robert Thomas. The family requested that visiting hours be observed from 4 PM ~ 10 PM on Friday and continue at 7 AM Saturday until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 7 PM Friday.
