St. Martinville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2:00 pm on Thursday, May 9, 2019, at St. Martin de Tours Catholic Church for Della H. Bienvenu, 87, who peacefully passed away on Monday, May 6, 2019, at Lafayette General Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 1:30 pm on Thursday.
A rosary will be prayed at 12:00 pm on Thursday by Adley Douet.
Rev. Brian Taylor will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Dustin Poche' and Bridget Latiolais. Gift bearers will be Addy Gayle Poche, Alex Coco, Alexia Fred, and Kaydence Migues.
A private inurnment will be held at a later date.
A lifelong resident of St. Martinville, Della was loved by all who knew her. Della worked and retired from St. Martin Bank. Della also owned and operated Gene's Restaurant with her husband. Della was a devoted Catholic who created a prayer room in her home where she was a dedicated prayer warrior each and every day. Della loved her family dearly and enjoyed cooking and baking. She was known for her famous Gȃteau Sirop. She loved her patio flowers and often visits to the casino.
She is survived by her sons, Michael "Mike" Bienvenu and wife Alice, Baron "White" Bienvenu and wife Trudy, and Ben Bienvenu and wife Darlene; daughter, Gina Boudreaux and husband Rusty; grandchildren, Nadia Poche, Tashia Sebbea, Josh Romero, Janie Bolotte, Kelli Migues, Lacey Bienvenu, Michelle Bienvenu, Wyatt Bienvenu, Oren Bienvenu, Dustin Boudreaux, and Dylan Boudreaux; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; brother, Nolan Hulin; and sister, Nola Dupuis.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Gene Francis Bienvenu; son, Kirk Bienvenu; father, Theodore Hulin; and mother, Lucille Landry Hulin.
Pallbearers will be Wyatt Bienvenu, Oren Bienvenu, Dustin Boudreaux, Dylan Boudreaux, Danny Migues, and Stephen Bolotte.
Honorary pallbearers will be Michael "Mike" Bienvenu, Baron "White" Bienvenu, Ben Bienvenu, and Rusty Boudreaux.
