Delta Chataignier

New Iberia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Monday, August 13, 2012 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church in New Iberia for Delta Champagne Chataignier, 79, who died Saturday, August 11, 2012 in New Iberia. Entombment will follow in the Beau Pre Cemetery, in Jeanerette Rev. William Gearheard will be the Celebrant. A gathering of family and friends will be Sunday from 4:00 PM until 9:00 PM at Pellerin Funeral Home, 502 Jefferson Terrace Blvd, in New Iberia. A rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM Sunday. Visitation will continue Monday from 8:00 AM until 9:30 AM. Born on November 11, 1932, Mrs. Chataignier was the daughter of Julian and Madia Delahoussaye Champagne. She enjoyed working word search puzzles and spending time with her family. She is survived by her husband, Alton Chataignier of New Iberia; sons, Neil Chataignier and wife Andree of New Iberia, Linc Chataignier of New Iberia; brother, Lennette 'Bob' Champagne and wife Sylvia of Loreauville; sisters, Cheryl Mair and husband Billy of New Iberia, Judy C. Gassiot of New Iberia; five grandchildren, Christine C. Evans, Grant Chataignier, Alison Chataignier, Chelsy Chataignier, Jaci Chataignier; 4 great grandchildren, Coy Evans, Cohen Evans, Charley Evans, and Levi Chataignier. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chataignier was preceded in death by sisters, Maydell Champagne, Annabelle C. Martin, and Monita C. Tyler. Pallbearers include Neil Chataignier, Linc Chataignier, Grant Chataignier, Billy Mair, Chad Evans, and Jace Migues.
