Arnaudville - A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, September 24, 2018, at St. John Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville for Delta M. Kidder Gillard, 96, who passed away on Friday, September 21, 2018, at Consolata Nursing Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home from 1:00 pm until 5:00 pm on Sunday and continue on Monday at 8:00 am until 9:30 am. A rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am on Monday.
Rev. Gary Schexnayder will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Concelebrant will be Deacon Frank A. Cormier. Readers will be Mary Heather Gillard and Amainte Godeaux. Gift bearers will be Amainte Godeaux, Francine B. Robin, and Jeannette Broussard.
Interment will follow at St. John Francis Regis Cemetery in Arnaudville.
Mrs. Gillard worked as a nurse at St. Paul's School in Covington for many years and was a member of the Ladies Altar Society in Arnaudville. She was known as the matriarch of the family, who always had a kind, caring, and loving heart. Delta will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her son, Michael Gillard, wife Margaret, and their daughter Mary Heather Gillard; daughter-in-law, Amina S. Gillard and her children, Kim G. Prater and Jason Gillard; great grandchildren, Logan and Colin Prater and Naomi and Pia Gillard; brother, Glenn Kidder and spouse Chris; sisters, Jane K. Broussard and Betty K. Quebedeaux; and sisters-in-law, Rose T. Kidder, Enna A. Kidder, and Lou D. Kidder.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Gillard; son, Joseph Kennyth Gillard; mother, Leah Hollier Kidder; father, Raymond Kidder, Sr.; and siblings, Lee A. Kidder, Rose K. Duhon, Wilbert R. Kidder, Raymond Kidder, Jr., Mildred K. Miller, Bruno Kidder, and Harris Kidder.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at Amedisys Hospice and Consolata Nursing Home in New Iberia for all the love and support given to Delta.
Pallbearers will be Michael Gillard, John K. Guidry, Dwayne Quebedeaux, Danny Domingue, Robert Kidder, and Ted Miller.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Kidder, Harold Guilhas, and Charles Ray Guilhas.
