Denage Singleton

Cecilia - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am, on Saturday, June 9, 2012, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, for Denage Broussard Singleton, 93, who passed away on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at East Houston Medical Center. The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Cecilia from 7:00 am until 10:30 am on Saturday. Rev. Joseph Campion will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Scriptures will be read by Darlene Barber, Samantha Lemelle, and Marilyn Lee. Gift Bearers will be Mason Thomas and Brittany White. Interment will follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Cecilia. Denage was born on June 19, 1918 to Alexis and Celisa Mouton Broussard. She was a native of Arnaudville and a resident of Breaux Bridge, Louisiana for most of her life. Denage was united in Holy Matrimony to Clifton Joseph Singleton for 66 years. To their union, one daughter and one son were born. She spent her last years living with her daughter in Houston, Texas. Denage was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She always showed love and concern for the well-being of her family and anyone who knew her. She was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Cecilia, Louisiana. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, Marie (Roosevelt) Lee of Houston, TX; five grandchildren, Darlene (Kevin) Barber, Marilyn Lee, Roosevelt (Edie) Lee, Jr., and Hurkerson Singleton, all of Houston, TX, and Tanya (Marco) Thomas of Lafayette; nine great grandchildren, one great-great grandchild; and a host of family and friends. She is preceded in death by her husband, Clifton Joseph Singleton; her son and daughter-in-law, Joseph Dennis Singleton and Dorothy Singleton; her parents, Alexis and Celisa Mouton Broussard; six sisters, Loubertha, Georgiana, Jeannine, Alicide, Eula, Dolatrice, and four brothers, Audy, Joseph, Pierre, and Jeffery.. Pallbearers will be Hurkerson Singleton, Justin Barber, Ryan Lee, Elijah Lee, Howard Singleton, Kevin Barber,Jr., Zachery Lee, and Roosevelt Lee, Jr.. Honorary pallbearers will be Mason Thomas, Edward Singleton, Sr., Roosevelt Lee, Sr., Gerald Davis, Pete Savoie, Marco Thomas, John Singleton, Jeffrey Broussard, Jr., Kevin Barber, Sr., and Northly Broussard.
