Lafayette - A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Thursday, December 10, 2020, at St. Genevieve Catholic Church in Lafayette for Derrick Joseph Hebert, 60, who passed away on Monday, December 7, 2020.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed at the funeral home in Breaux Bridge from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm on Wednesday and continue on Thursday at 8:00 am until 10:30 am.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 pm on Wednesday.
Rev. Brian Taylor will officiate at the Funeral Mass. Readers will be Amy Malbrough and Lydia Green Capdepon.
Interment will follow at Lafayette Memorial Park in Lafayette.
Derrick was owner and operator of his family business, A-Bear Sno-Ball Stand in Breaux Bridge. He was also well known in the food and beverage industry. Derrick was an avid LSU football fan, enjoyed the outdoors, cutting grass, golfing, and playing basketball. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his two brothers, Larry Hebert and wife, Brenda, and Gregory Hebert; two sisters, Sandra Bianchini and Susan Hebert; three nieces, Chelsey Hargrave (Chad), Maggie Hebert and Delaney Hebert; three nephews, Drake Bianchini, Layne Huval and Baylee Huval (Lyndsy); great niece and nephew, Amelia Huval and Jackson Hargrave; in-laws, Barbara Veillon and Sherwin Veillon; and his uncle, Jack Harris Hebert.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Julie Paige Veillon Hebert; and parents, Joseph Hebert, III and Virgie M. Ewing Hebert.
Pallbearers will be Drake Bianchini, Layne Huval, Baylee Huval, Shannon Harrison, Tracy Hebert, and Lance Veillon.
