New Iberia - Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, June 22, 2018, at Pellerin Funeral Home in New Iberia for Derrick James Reaux, 39, who passed away on Sunday, June 17, 2018, in New Iberia. A gathering of family and friends will be at Pellerin Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 10:00 pm on Thursday, and will continue on Friday from 10:00 am until 1:00 pm. Pastor Curtis Gibson will be the Officiant. Entombment will follow at Holy Family Cemetery in New Iberia. Derrick James Reaux was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on July 6, 1978, to Wildy "Junior" Reaux and the late Sharon Meyer Reaux. He was a 1996 graduate of Delcambre High School, and worked as a Safety Representative for Diverse Safety and Scaffolding. Derrick was known for being the life of the party, and he never met a stranger. He was an avid sports fan, especially LSU and the Saints. He enjoyed cooking, family BBQs, bonfires, and playing video games, but what he cherished most was time spent with his nieces and nephew. Derrick was very compassionate, and had a warm smile and a hug for everyone. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his father, Wildy "Junior" Reaux and his friend, Cindy Leleux of New Iberia; sisters, Crystal Romero and companion David Bouillion, and Mystie Morvant and husband Robert Morvant, Jr. of New Iberia; maternal grandmother, Audrey Meyer of New Iberia; girlfriend, Amber Judice of New Iberia; nieces, Lindsey McDonald and husband Jon of Erath, and Sydnie and Kenzi Whitman of New Iberia; and a nephew, Cody Romero and fiance, Kristen Carpenter of New Iberia. He was preceded in death by his mother, Sharon Meyer Reaux; maternal grandfather, Benjamin "Benny" Meyer; paternal grandmother, Hazel Lapointe; and paternal grandfather, Wildy Joseph Reaux. Pallbearers will be Cody Romero, Jamie Meyer, Rusty Broussard, Joshua Duhon, Robert Morvant, Jr., and Merland Jacquneaux. Honorary pallbearers are Barry and Buddy Meyer.
