Dickie Dupuis

November 23, 1955 — April 19, 2025

Leonville - With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Dickie John Dupuis, who left this world peacefully on Saturday, April 19, 2025, at his home in Leonville. Born on November 23, 1955, in St. Landry Parish, Dickie touched many lives with his spirit, faith, wisdom, and most of all, his love.

Pastor Tony Lanclos will officiate a private memorial service, remembering Dickie in the presence of close family and friends.

Dickie's academic journey led him to obtain a degree in welding at T.H. Harris. After completing his education, he embraced the family legacy and continued to farm just as his father. As years passed, Dickie found another calling as Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor at LOMA, later known as Newpark Industries, where he retired.

Dickie's life was a shining example of integrity, kindness, love and compassion. To know Dickie, is to love the great man that he was. He inspired many individuals with his selfless nature and unwavering generosity. He never sought anything in return for his acts of kindness; rather, he embodied the true spirit of love. He was always willing to share his faith and love for Jesus with whomever he encountered.

In addition to his remarkable character, the love that Dickie had for his beloved wife, Debbie, was extraordinary. Together, hand in hand, side by side, they built a life and love that endured. Dickie was also known for his love of music, in which he shared a special bond with his daughter, Dana. His love for cooking was matched only by his appreciation for farming his homestead with delectable fruits and vegetables, alongside his bride.

He is survived by his wife, Deborah Knott Dupuis; daughter, Dana Dupuis Hanratty and her husband, Justin; grandson, Holden Brooks Dupuis and bonus grandson, Justin Hanratty, Jr.; sister-in-law, Brenda Knott; twin brother, Rickie Dupuis (Jackie); brother, Bobby Dupuis (Ginny); sister, Judy Dupuis Meche (Leo); and a host of nieces and nephews.

He is proceeded in death by his parents, Herman Charles Dupuis and Margaret Guilbeau Dupuis; his parents-in-law, Clarence 'Coy' Knott and Merley Taylor Knott; and sister-in-law, Mona Knott Lanclos.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of the staff at Oschner Hospital of New Orleans for the excellent care given to Dickie. Also thanking the St. Landry Parish Sheriff's Office, Leonville Volunteer Fire Department and Acadian Ambulance Paramedics for their services.
