Dina was born in New Iberia, Louisiana on June 21, 1967. Her career spanned more than 28 years in the Iberia Parish School System, where she left an impact on the lives of countless students and colleagues. At the time of her passing, she held the esteemed position of principal at Iberia Middle School. Her commitment to her profession was evident through her numerous accolades. Dina was honored as Middle School Principal of the Year multiple times—first in 2018 and then again in 2019, 2022, and 2023. She was also recognized as Iberia Parish Teacher of the Year in 2008. Her dedication and passion for education were further acknowledged when she received the District Employee of the Month award for November 2022. By actively participating in organizations such as the Louisiana Association of Principals, Dina continuously sought growth and advancement within her field. She generously contributed her time and energy to programs such as 4-H and Beta Club, serving as their sponsor and actively engaging with their activities. Furthermore, Dina took on the responsibility of being a team leader at Iberia Middle School for many years—a testament to her leadership skills and commitment to fostering a nurturing educational environment.
One aspect that defined Dina's life was her unwavering faith. A devoted member of Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Coteau for many years, she exhibited immense devotion to her spiritual beliefs. Dina selflessly imparted her wisdom by teaching CCD and Confirmation classes for two decades—an act of service that touched the lives of numerous young individuals.
Dina's proudest accomplishments extended beyond her professional and community engagements. At the tender age of 18, she married her beloved Paul in March of 1986. Together, they journeyed through life, facing its joys and challenges as a united front. When Paul enlisted in the military, Dina supported him wholeheartedly and provided him with unwavering love and strength throughout his four years of service. Their bond remained unbreakable, and their love served as an inspiration to all who knew them.
While raising their three children, Dina embarked on another remarkable chapter of her life. Despite the demands of running a grocery store, she pursued higher education and obtained her master's degree—an accomplishment that showcased her determination and tenacity. Her consistent appearance on the Dean's List was a testament to her academic dedication and intellectual prowess.
Dina had an extraordinary bond with her nieces and nephews, who all called her "Nanny." She played an integral role in their lives, offering unconditional love, guidance, and cherished memories that will forever endure. The bond she shared with each of them was truly a treasure.
Her faith, family and work were what were important to Dina. She gave a lot of things to a lot of people, but above all else in the world, her children and grandchildren are what she cherished most in life. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and friend who will be deeply missed.
